Money Well Spent

Shopping Anyone?

What type of shopping Girlie are you?

1.) Drugstore Diva
2.) Online Recluse
3.) Department Store Darling
4.) Specialty Beauty Store Babe

For me, it's a tie between online and the drugstores. I can't leave a Walgreens or CVS without cosmetics in hand ( and dark chocolate )! My favorite brands are:
- NYX Cosmetics
- Wet n Wild
- Black Radiance
- Milani
- Revlon
- Iman Cosmetics

What makes drugstore shopping fun is that items tend to be inexpensive but good quality and brands do a great job of adding new products & colors often.

When I shop online, I usually shop NYX Cosmetics, HSN, and Sephora. There's something awesome about being in your lounge wear, eating a snack, while sitting in your favorite spot at home with no sales people fighting over you. Sounds like bliss to me!

What's your fancy? I want to hear from you!

Beauty From Within

Kale Salad Anyone?

This week, my husband and I enjoyed some really great food and even greater customer service from Niki at the new Whole Foods Market across from the Galleria. This young lady checked us out two of the times we shopped there and she was not only nice, but also beautiful. She must be a fellow beauty lover because she was all dolled up!

The food is simple and amazingly good at this market. Why cook anymore? Seriously though, I believe what we eat does affect how good our skin will look so I eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water & fresh juices.

Tell me about your diet. Have you seen specific changes in your skin by eating in a particular way?

Glow Baby!

Face Oil

I went to the Laura Mercier counter at Macy's in Sugar Land and spotted a brand new face oil called Infusion de Rose Nourishing Oil. This oil is not only lightweight but it smells so beautiful and absorbs quickly. As I tried it, a woman named Kris began to help me. She shared that the oil is also great for fingernails. I think the packaging is pretty and perfect for a vanity.

Kris was so great that she talked me into trying on a gorgeous fuchsia lipstick which I purchased and she was kind enough to give me samples of face primer and face polish. Laura Mercier may be a smaller counter at the department store but I can see why it's a cult favorite!

Have you tried any face oils and if so, what's your favorite brand?

If you haven't tried any oils, what's holding you back?

Happy New Year!

Clean Hair

January is a great time to try something new so I decided to try different cleansing conditioners for my hair. Back in 2012, I tried Just as I am Coconut Co-wash. It was at Sally Beauty in the ethnic hair care area but it really works for all hair textures. What I loved about it most was that my hair and scalp felt very clean but not dry. Needless to say,  I became bored and wanted to try more products since I LOVE beauty!

My hair texture is curly and it's styled in a baby mohawk so using about 4 pumps of conditioner does the trick. I've recently tried 2 more and here's my thoughts:

1.) L'oreal Ever Curl Hydracharge Cleansing Conditioner
- First of all, the scent is awesome. This product is a low - lathering conditioner but my hair still felt hydrated. I also purchased 2 styling products in the same line and like both just as much. These products are wallet - friendly and easy to find at any retailer.

2.) Salon Grafix Conditioning Cleanser For Normal Hair
- This conditioner has no lather and lists quite a few botanical ingredients on the label if that's important to you. The scent is citrus creme which makes it very subtle. I stumbled across this product at Kroger Signature on Buffalo Speedway. This particular Kroger carries salon brand products which was a pleasant surprise to me. I must say,  this conditioning cleanser is my favorite so far!

Wen cleansing conditioner is the original but it's an investment that I haven't made yet. Before 2015 is over, I promise to buy it and share my thoughts with you.

Have you tried any cleansing conditioners yet? If so, what works best for you?

New for 2015

A great new find!

I recently shopped the Clinique counter at First Colony Mall and received great service. Her name is Asma and she's absolutely gorgeous. Her eye makeup was amazing and she does a great job with makeovers.

They have a wonderful new nudes collection for 2015. The color palette is so diverse that whether you're a vanilla hue, somewhere in between, or dark chocolate,  you'll be covered.

Here's what I purchased:
1.) Butter shine lipstick - Chocolate Ice
2.) Long last glosswear - Hooked on you
3.) Moisturizing chubby stick color balm - Voluptuous Violet
4.) Almost lipstick - Black Honey

These lip products are good when you don't want a lot of makeup on or when you want bold eye color and a more natural pout.

One last tidbit!

A few nights ago, I browsed the Destination Iman website. Iman has created a fabulous lifestyle website that covers fashion, home, travel, and of course all things beauty. Be honest, am I late to the party with visiting her website? Be sure to check it out if you haven't already.

Be Festive

Red Lips

There's nothing like a perfect red lip during the holiday season.  I personally love a bold, bright lip because it commands attention and requires minimal makeup on the eyes.

Here's a list of my favorite red lipsticks,  glosses,  and laquers:

1.) Estee Lauder - Pure Color Laquer in Hot Cherry
2.) Fashion Fair - Lipstick in Rose Tropical
3.) Revlon Colorburst - Matte Balm in Standout
4.) MAC - Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo
5.) Wet n Wild Fergie - Center stage lipstick in Saraghina
6.) Estee Lauder - Pure Color Laquer in Ruby Glow
7.) Revlon Colorburst - Laquer Balm in Enticing
8.) Chanel - Glossimer in Spark

Enjoy your holiday season and be sure to rock a red lip real soon!

WOW!

I am so excited to get started with you!

I go by the name of KJB and beauty is my passion.  I'm obsessed with skincare,  hair care, and cosmetics! For me, it started at a young age watching my grandmother slather on products at her vanity table. I knew someday that would be me.

Products can come from department stores,  specialty beauty stores,  or drugstores.  I don't discriminate!

Feel free to enjoy this adventure with me as I try different products,  share my opinions,  and talk about the customer service in the Houston area.
